just a little interlude...

Finished Coraline in a day. Must now confirm it to my list of all time favs. Believe Neil Gaiman may have been a cat in a former life or has cat ESP now. Very annoyed as book is so good. Glad I saw the movie as I think it added to my enjoyment of the book. Trying to figure out how often to re-read such books as too often will depress me and my writery self, but too far apart will depress me and my writery self.

Am editing as if a snail at the moment - about a couple of pages a day with much going back over earlier stuff. This is probably why I took out tricky plot element in the first place, as it is a beggar - a) to get right and, b) to fit it in properly. This may be enough to send me back into the arms of my equally challenging YA. Why do I do this to myself. Oh, that's right, I'm a masochist, whoops, I mean writer. I will keep my nose to the grindstone. One thing keeping me going is the feeling that the end is in sight.

Just as I could never be as good as 'those' gymnists, I hate to admit that though I want to be as good, I will never be a Neil Gaimon. Wahhhh.

I know! It's hard reading good stuff sometimes, but usually a pleasure. What's depressing is reading bad stuff..

The thing with Neil Gaiman is that he writes so well but sells so well too...and wins award...and has his books made into movies...good movies...sigh...This is the dream I have when I'm not having the dream about winning millions of dollars.

I gave myself a Christmas present and read his latest 'The graveyard book' and had the SAME reaction!
Waaaaaaah. Why do I think I can write...sob. He is the guest children's writer at the international festival of the arts in feb/march and Fifi says he is as dreamy in real life as well...(must grab tickets when i get back)
re writing-At the moment I am finding it so damn hard to get motivated to write...who wants to be stuck inside in front of a computer when it is sunny and the pool is right there...and you are supposedly on holiday and your in laws are bringing cool drinks with alcohol in them and...none of which is happening in your novel which is set in a hostile environment at 50 degrees below...the things we have to overcome....
cheers (hic)
